Kenya knows how to throw a party!

So, this has been the weekend of extensive, expensive parties in Nairobi.

Friday night we attended a “Red Carpet, Black Tie” party whose guest list included semi-pro golfers for Kenya’s second team, members of the Kenyan parliament, a Canadian (who is noted because we were the only two people of white skin during the majority of the event), and numerous affluent young adults. The party was thrown in celebration of Natalie and ??? (both friends of Christinas) 18th and 21st birthdays.

The following night was the celebration of Christina and her brother Stefan’s 21st and 18th birthdays as well, which had the aforementioned Bollywood theme (and as you can see, I went with the orange and red outfit). The majority of the people attending were also at the party the previous night and it was interesting to see the drastic change in people’s attire. The night went well, with the exception of the bartender who randomly disappeared toward the end of the night --- only to be replaced by myself! --- It seems that I was the first one to notice, so I had to step in and serve, which was fine because I didn’t really know anybody anyway.

Here are some photos of our Mehndi (henna) that we had done. We hired two ladies for over three hours of work!

So, with all the hustle and bustle over, it is now time to prepare for Christmas and our following trip to the coastal city of Mombasa!
